Our Story
Two Galway Kids
Long before their paths crossed, Sarah and Daniel were growing up just a stone’s throw apart in Galway, living very different childhoods that would one day meet in the middle. Daniel, the oldest of six, was a bright and sporty child with a sharp mind and endless energy. In primary school he played chess and became an All-Ireland quiz champion, and he was just as at home on the pitch, turning his hand to basketball, hurling, soccer, Gaelic, and athletics, though rugby always held his heart. He went to school in Bushypark and later Athenry.
Sarah, an only child with lots of cousins, was a creative and imaginative child who dreamed of becoming a fashion designer, following in the footsteps of her nanny, a dressmaker, and her grandad, a tailor. She threw herself into musicals, drama school, and years in the choir, and still found time for swimming, karate, Irish dancing, football, and basketball. Her love of travel started early, with her first sun holiday at just two months old and regular trips to Gran Canaria, though she was just as happy on spins with her parents and grandparents, out on country walks, or cycling with friends. Born on the day of the Late Late Toy Show, she’d mark every birthday by inviting all her friends along. She went to school in Corrandrum and later Tuam.
Where It Began
Sarah and Daniel first met in 2013, in fifth year of school: Daniel the rugby player, Sarah with her love of all things makeup. They hit it off from the very beginning, and by 2015 they were ready to take the next step together, starting college at NUI Galway side by side.
The Galway Years
Daniel studied computer science and Sarah studied marketing, but college was about so much more than lectures. Between long days of studying, they threw themselves into student life, getting involved in college societies, organising events, and building a circle of Galway friends who remain by their side to this day. All the while, they kept their growing love of adventure alive with travel whenever they could squeeze it in.
Moving to Dublin
After finishing college, Sarah and Daniel packed up and moved to Dublin to start their careers. It was their first real taste of independence as a couple, building a home and a routine of their own in a new city.
Back to Galway
When Covid changed the world, it brought Sarah and Daniel back home to Galway, where they settled back in among family and friends while figuring out their next chapter together.
Five Months of Adventure
With new remote jobs giving them the freedom to work from anywhere, Sarah and Daniel set off on a five-month adventure through India, Malaysia, and Thailand. They tried new food, met people from all over the world, and even completed their advanced scuba certification along the way. Living in India during that time meant they came home with enough saved for a deposit on their first house, one of many trips that has since taken them to 25 different countries together.
Our First Home
Sarah and Daniel moved into their first home together, surrounded by the people who mattered most. It was the beginning of a new chapter, and the start of building a life under their own roof.
Welcoming Rua
A month after moving in, their home already felt complete with the arrival of Rua, their dog. With a personality far bigger than her size, Rua quickly became known to everyone as the true head of the household.
The Proposal
On 11 July 2025, on holiday in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, Daniel had a plan of his own. Earlier that day he’d video called Sarah’s parents, catching them sitting in the Galway sun, to ask for their blessing. That evening, under the guise of a surprise dinner, he steered Sarah toward a white dress before they climbed into a taxi, Sarah convinced they were headed to a restaurant on the beach. Instead they arrived at a quiet stretch of Playacar beach, where the jungle meets the soft white sands of the Caribbean Sea. As they walked along the shoreline, Daniel took Sarah’s hand, spun her around, and got down on one knee. She said yes, and a photographer waiting nearby captured it all, before the two celebrated over a romantic meal that evening. The next morning they rang Daniel’s family to share the news, so early that everyone wondered what the rush was about.
